Why Carport Kingdom?

Here are just some of the reasons to order from us:

The Perfect Size

When building your own custom metal structure, the first variable to handle is the size of the structure. You need to think about the space you have available, how you want to use that space, and how you’ll move in and around the structure. For instance, if you’re going to use a carport for daily parking, you’ll want to make sure the size you select makes it easy to get your vehicles in and out of the structure. In addition to length and width, remember that height is an important piece of the puzzle. You need to select an appropriate height for both your property and for the vehicles or other belongings that will be stored in your structure. Take careful measurements of your property and pad those dimensions so you have some margin for error.

Two Steel Gauge Options

We offer two choices for gauge when you order your custom metal structure: 12-gauge and 14-gauge steel. As you may be aware, lower numbers indicate thicker material when referring to gauge, so a 12-gauge structure will be heavier-duty than the 14-gauge alternative. Which is right for you? Well, that depends on your situation. If you are primarily focused on keeping the cost of the structure down as low as possible, choosing 14-gauge material will help you do just that. However, if you desire a structure that is sturdy and ready to hold up to the elements, you may want to invest in 12-gauge. Sure, you’ll need to spend a little more upfront to make that selection, but you’ll come away with a solid building that will perform well as the years go by.

Important Roof Decisions

With the size of your building determined and a decision made regarding the gauge you will order, the next item on your list should be the roof. Specifically, what frame type you are going to select and which direction the siding will run. These are important choices, so let’s take a look at each of them individually: Frame Type For frame type, your two options are A-Frame or standard. A standard carport frame will have rounded edges, while an A-Frame provides a squared-off shape and appearance. The A-Frame is the costlier option, but it will provide you with added rigidity and a look that some buyers find appealing. On the other side of the coin, a standard frame is going to keep the cost of the overall project down, and you may find that you actually like this look better. The visual side of things is up to your own personal preference, of course, so use the Build & Price Tool to preview how your carport would look both ways before making your final decision. Siding Direction With regard to the direction of your siding, carports come in two styles: horizontal and vertical. The siding panels run from back and front on a horizontal model, while they are oriented up and down on a vertical model. The horizontal orientation requires less supporting structure, so it is less expensive as a result. With a vertical roof, you will pay more, but you will get improved performance in terms of dealing with precipitation—especially snow. Those in harsh climates will likely want to upgrade to a vertical roof as the increase in price is more than offset by the performance advantages.

All the Extras

So far, we have covered the key decisions you’ll need to make when getting started with your new structure. There is more to do, however, so let’s look at a few of the other points to keep in mind before you can consider your order ready to go.
